An excellent solution for mobile access to InternetEmail
The main attraction to the mobile internet kit is that it enables you to send and receive emails whilst away from your desk. The other features such as the SMS application, the web clipping, etc, are all good fun and easy to use but non-essential for most people. Before trying any of its features however, it is necessary to first negotiate the installation process. For me this also entailed an upgrade to the palm operating system. What the CD actually does is wipe the Palm before installing the new version. The procedure assures you that it backs up all your data first, and is designed so that you can simply follow the next button and all should run smoothly. Call me paranoid, but I made my own backup first by installing the palm software onto another PC....just in case. As it happened there were no problems. The whole thing was very easy. The screen goes a very suspicious looking shade of binary during the upgrade, which makes you hold your breath and be glad you made that backup. At a certain point you are asked to supply information from your Internet Service Provider (ISP). You will need your username, password, email address, mail server names, possibly primary & secondary DNS numbers, and the phone number to dial. After adding these in the relevant boxes and completing the installation I was able to make a connection to the internet first time and am now happily retrieving my emails whilst away from my desk. Its an excellent product, very good value when you consider what people pay for Laptops, and if youve spent £250 or so on the thing, well, you might just as well throw in another £20.
