Flawed Guidebook
This is a great book if you want to know alot about the history of the places that youre planning on visiting, however as a practical guidebook it leaves alot to be desired. I have 2 priorities when Im planning a trip firstly finding somewhere to sleep and secondly finding somewhere to eat. This book does give recommendations for both, however it does not show the location of either on the street maps provided - it only gives the addresses. Which means that in order to find a hotel youve got to scrutinise the map to find the relevant street and even then you wont know which end of the street to go to. This is a minor but very serious flaw that virtually renders the book useless. Time and time again I found myself reaching for my friends Lonely Planet guide which is a lot more user friendly and provides all the basic information that I would expect from a travel guidebook.

With its bribery scandals and Mafia trials, even contemporary Italy is extravagant. Northern Italy is the wealthiest third of the republic: Italys industrial revolution began in the regions capital city of Turin, now home to the Fiat Corporation, Europes largest car manufa..

Venice
|
This is a brilliant little book - small enough to put in your pocket, easy to read, funny, full of every kind of information you might want, witty, well researched - and ..... I followed the hints on buying a Venetian door knocker, and saved myself about £30! Thanks...
