Suzanne Cox 3 - Firm It Up

A workout I am happy to add to my collection!
I own a good number of exercise videos and DVDs. I recently purchased two Suzanne Cox DVDs. I did Firm It Up just this morning and I am sold! A good, solid, aerobic workout - low impact, yes, so less chance of jarring and joint pain. Good for beginners - but it was easy for this Intermediate exerciser to add more energy to the routines - and it is possible to do both workouts together, back to back, for a longer 60 minute workout.

The dance routines were fun and a good break from the more traditional aerobics move - not a grapevine, a pony, a repeater knee in sight.

Just what I needed to add some variety to my morning workout.

A exercise DVD that is only good for beginners...
I have always wanted to buy a good exercise DVD that is both fun and effective. From the cover of the DVD, Suzanne Cox promised just that. However, it is regrettable that the DVD does not live up to its expectations.

As for the exercise itself, the moves are relatively easy to master, and it is of quite a low impact, thus might be good for beginners, but if you are looking for a good cardio excercise that makes you sweat a lot, this DVD is not for you. The dance moves themselves are not very fun to do either.

However, the routine of the exercise is well structured, with easy skipping and chapters access, you can pick and combine the two different types of work out that you like. There is a lower intensity work out and a higher intensity one. The two types of dances (salsa, 70s disco and flamenco in one, tribal, 90s disco and disco in the other) also provides a good variety of excercise so that you will not get bored.

Despite the instructors enthusiasm and her easy to follow instructions, her appearance is not what one can look up to and think that I want a body like hers type, I looked more at the dancers behind for motivation. Also, the background is the same studio rather than some nice varieties of sceneries, the lighting makes it look like a very amateur 80s disco.

Overall, this DVD was not for me, but if you are a beginner or just want some low impact workout that is different from other aerobic workouts, this might be for you.

Wendy Teasdill has a lovely warm presence, she is knowledgable and clearly very experi..

Portrait Of Ireland

Portrait of Ireland, which has no narrative or documentary stylings of any sort, is like a slide show with a soundtrack. Postcard images of sunsets, sunrises, pasture, bog, grazing sheep, old men drinking stout in pubs, pudgy Irish women standing picturesquely in doorways of thatch-roofed cottages, ancient cairns, castles, heather-blanketed cliffs, crashing waves and serene beaches fade one into another, while the mystic compositions of Enya, James Galway, and the Chieftains provide an au..

The Definitive Chen Tai Chi

I bought this video as reference for my own Chen-taiji practice. It is a pure demonstration tape, not an instructional tape. The video starts with a general (English language voice-over) introduction on taiji, accompanied by images that are partly taken from the rest of the tape, partly from someweh..

Yoga: The Iyengar Way

This is a fantastic book, which has provided me with motivation, guidance and inspiration between my weekly beginners yoga classes.
