De Niro at his Best
This is by far De Niros best performance, and that is saying something. The performance is raw and he depicts the boxer La Motta perfectly. The film shows the highs and lows of the boxer Jake La Motta, and the film is a real roller-coaster ride, De Niro takes you through all the emotions, and put together with Scorseses brilliant direction, this film is well worth its title of Best film of the 80s.

Raging Bull is the best sports film ever made, the sheer emotion it puts you through, the detailed fights scenes, the first-class sound, this has never been repeated on big screen. Rocky may be fans favourite, but this is the best.

It is hard to believe that De Niro trained for the part for over a year, fought in three fights, then shot the film, take a few months out of filming to put on 50 pounds and then finished filming. Not only the best actor, but also this shows commitment to the part.

I loved Raging Bull from the first time I saw it, I am sure I am not the only one.

Classic film-making
This is without a doubt one of the finest films ever made. De Niro has never been this good (and he has been magnificent in other films too) and the supporting performances from Joe Pesci and Cathy Moriaty are also excellent. The whole style of the film reeks of class. The brutal and realistic fight scenes (being a boxer, I would know), the slow collapse of La Mottas relationship with his wife and the brilliance of the dialogue make this an absolue classic. Those seeking the quick thrills and a feel good factor should keep away, but everyone else should see what is arguably one of the best films of all time.

Rageing bull
Rageing bull is a good film .
The fight scenes are brilliantly shown with great smoke , blur , and silence affects Not to mention the fact that theyre bloody and exciteing , the fast cuts give a confuseing feel to the action , although some scenes drag as we watch Jake
(Roberts deniro)slip slowly into paranoia , it does tend to be tiresome and irritateing as the actors pause
(for added effect they seem to think) for long times and gaze at each other , exchangeing boreing blows of verbal abuse . We watch the life of Jake slowly crumble around him as he gets fatter , more paranoid and more agressive .
The film at times is boreing but at most is brutal , exciteing , interesting , clever and brilliant .
A good film , Although Taxi driver is better .

Raymond Briggs The Snowman : 20th Anniversary Collectors Edition

Well I was a bit sceptical of buying a new improved version of The Snowman as the original is such a classic. However I found a lot of the extras interesting, it gave me a good insight of how animation used to be created. I also found that because it was in widescreen I didnt have the annoying black..

Slap Shot: 25th Anniversary Special Edition [WS] (REGION 1) (NTSC)

Paul Newman and his Butch Cassidy director, George Roy Hill, made a very original comedy in this 1977 story of an over-the-hill player/coach (Newman) for a lousy hockey team who gets results when he teaches his players to get dirty. One of the most hilariously profane movies ever to come out of Hollywood, this is the kind of film that makes its own rules as it goes along. Newman is very good, and while Hill goes for the gusto in terms of capturing the violence of this world, his instinct ..

A Christmas Carol (50th Anniversary Edition) (REGION 1) (NTSC)

This 1951 adaptation of A Christmas Carol, starring Alastair Sim as Ebenezer Scrooge, is hailed by many as the best adaptation of Charles Dickens timeless Christmas story. Certainly, it is a very good movie more than capable of bringing a tear to your eye as you witness Scrooges rebirth as a man who..
