Good book, badly needs updating
This is a fine and informative book, well structured and easy to read. However, the version of Emacs under consideration, 19.29, is some way behind the current release. Id like any update to cover NT Emacs as well.

Excellent, packed with information!
Excellent book, its packed with all the information you need to start off with. Its essential that you have a decent book on emacs since there is not much help available on the on-line help and I recommend this book.

Good for beginners
But the part on Lisp programming is very bad. Furthermore, it doesnt tell you how to debug a C program, and it doesnt mention xemacs.

Whilst TOSG is a touch melancholic early on, and a rat..

ACDSee V4

It was relatively advanced and specialised for the time, allowing files to be viewed as thumbnails on a win 98 OS, one click viewing of the files, folder navigation integral to the interface; windows exp..

Designing for the Web
|
Although the book is oriented around Photoshop on the Mac (which is even better if you use a Mac), the concepts are universal. The book is visually pleasing, very informative (especially on graphic formats), and an inexpensive way to get started...
