Rio Volt SP250 MP3 CD Player

£ 49.99
Good but over priced
I have had my RioVolt 250 for nearly a year now. I brought it because I wanted to listen to my MP3 collection but didnt like the idea of memory cards as they are expensive and store very little (compared to a CD). The features on this player are superb. There are many things you can adjust and if you go to Rios website and update the firmware you can add a few extra features. I use it mainly in the car and it rarely skips. All in all a great MP3/WMA/CD player. I would have given it 5 stars but there are a few things to be aware of. First is the sound quality. If you have a decent car stereo this isnt a problem. But when listening through headphones the sound is very flat and is nothing to do with low bit rates on MP3 tracks! Is comparable to buying a very cheap CD player. Even adjusting the graphic equaliser and adding "bass boost" doesnt do anything much to the sound. This is on MP3 AND ordinary audio CDs. If you get a chance play your favorite CD in a Sony CD walkman then in this and you will hear the difference. Secondly the battery power isnt as good as expected. With the supplied rechargable batteries it will last about 5-7 hours (assuming you do not keep skipping tracks or turning it on and off as this uses a lot of power).

Good features and range of formats, but poor sound quality and high price.

If you want excellent sound quality stay away! If you want lots of features and will use it mainly in the car hooked up to a good car stereo, it is excellent!

Little Rio Wonder
A little cracker. This is the first time Ive owned a personal MP3 player. I didnt fancy the restrictions of memory-only MP3 gadgets and wasnt willing to pay for a digital jukebox (I typically have around 10 MP3 albums burned onto a single CD), so the Volt SP250 was perfect for me. Quite simply, the sound quality from this little unit is stunning (and its fairly light on battery drain). Im sure there are other quality players around this price ... however the Rio has a dedicated website, can support Microsofts .WMA format and is firmware upgradeable. In terms of build quality its light, inconspicous and feels about as tough as a hand grenade. The Sonys may look sexier, but the Volt SP250 certainly has the quality where it matters. I based my purchase on the other Amazon reviews and have NOT been disappointed. I notice the other reviews mention slow loading but this has not been an issue for me ... I do burn onto quality branded disks though (not the hundred for a tenner variety!!)

Rio Volt rocks!
First things first, the sound is immaculate (if you get the headphones the right way round!),the design is really cool and the sheer emensity of the amount of things it does is mindblowing. Its case (leather I might add) is really sleek and the little window that shows the CD spinning is a nice touch. The only downside is that as much as I tried I couldnt find out how to work the MP3. Overall this is a great CD player and Im glad I got it.

Sony D-CJ01 Silver MP3 CD Walkman

P>This Sony is really great... I got it earlier today and its played all the MP3s Ive thrown at it perfectly. The size, sound and build quality are great, and it does NOT skip! It lacks some features which were cool on the Rio - m3u/winamp playlist support, memories for the last 10 discs used, upgra..

Logix EVzone Clik Mp3 Player

The Logix Clik certainly isnt the smallest or lightest MP3 player you can find, but then it does much more than most digital music players. As well as playing MP3 and Windows Media files (WMA), this chunky silver player lets you record on the move, carry an address book (download it as CSV), check the date and time and copy files to and from the 40 MB of storage you get. And when thats full, you can either delete files using the eVzone Manager software, or pop in another Iomega Clik! disk and us..

Apple iPod 5GB for Mac – 1st Generation [M8513B/A]

Im a mac user who has owned an iPod for six months now and Ive had no problems with it. Theres a couple of specific points Id like to state for the record:

(1) The software now on iPods has ironed out the bugs mentioned elsewhere in these reviews and now includes an equaliser.

(2) The fact that ..
