IMMATURE, CHILDISH, SILLY, DAFT ------> AWESOME
Well I am not ashamed to say that this continues to be the best comedy that I have ever seen. I must have seen it over 30 times yet I will never stop laughing at the gags. I guess it takes a certain kind of humour to enjoy this kind of film. I know this matches BANG ON with my personal mentality. These two guys are really, really DUMB and they provide such entertainment throughout the whole film that it is applaudable! I think Jim Carrey is a naturally funny man but this is by far and away the best movie of his career and along side Jeff daniels, you just know its gonna be a hoot!

Absolutely brilliant from beginning to end.
Jeff Daniels and Jim Carrey will have you in stitches. This is without doubt, one of the funniest films to date. Carrey is first class, and the duo carry this film through perfectly. Buy it at your earliest convenience.

In a word: hilarious
Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels excel as the leads in this film which must rate amongst one of the funniest ever made. From one-liners to sketches or situations, Dumb and Dumber exceeds superbly on the main criteria for any comedy: its funny. The plot is simple, but it keeps things moving and provides perfect settings for the humour to continue.

Whilst perhaps setting the scene for the many teen and gross-out comedies that have appeared in the last 10 years, Dumb & Dumber is still fresh and very, very funny, even after many, many viewings.

The support actors perfectly complement the leads. The policeman, the waitress, Lauren Holly and many others play their roles seriously, emphasising the goofiness exhibited by the starring duo. Jim Carreys talent at facial and physical humour (even if youre not a fan of most of Jim Carreys other films, try this film, he plays the role superbly) is perfectly complemented by Daniels, who manages to play the dumber of the two.

Without doubt in my mind, this is the vintage film by the excellent Farrelly brothers. As Ive said before, it doesnt do anything special, it just does what so many comedies fail to manage. Its funny. Not only that, its very funny, and not just in places. Its very funny throughout.

The disc comes with few extras, which is a bit of a disappointment. However, the menus are good, the picture is clean and the film is a gem. Coupled with the bargain price, this is a must-have disc.

Paul Newman

Paul Newman is always going to be an interesting subject to write a biography about, but with this book the author shows an obvious dislike or maybe even jealousy of his subject. It is written in a manner that criticises Newman for very petty things. The author is obviously not a fan and this is enh..

D.W.Griffith: An American Life

Minutely researched, Richard Schickel really did his homework. Griffith emerges as an intriguing, if not altogether engaging, character. He seems to have been the first to understand what was to become the accepted language of popular cinema. For example, he showed that intercutting two sequences (a..

The 400 Blows - Criterion Collection

Somewhat mirroring his own past, Truffaut uses the camera to give a sociological account of Antoine Doinels childhood.

Not a patronising account, however, but looking at the world, quite literally, from a childs perspective. Parenting and Authority are very much criticised, as Truffaut poin..

Island of Dr. Moreau [WS/P&S] [1996] (REGION 1) (NTSC)

Though this graphic 1996 version of HG Wells The Island of Dr Moreau was roasted by critics, its an utterly fascinating failure, largely due to the performances of David Thewlis, Val Kilmer and especially Marlon Brando in the title role as a mad (and in this case outrageously bizarre) scientist whose experiments in crossbreeding humans with animals have gone terribly awry. Thewlis plays the wayward scholar who is rescued at sea by Kilmer and brought to Moreaus island to discover the docto..
