Great for snaps
This camera is perfect for snaps, and wonderful for beautiful close up shots. Since I bought mine I have taken it everywhere because it is so small and unobtrusive to use. And I have convinced at least 3 of my friends to go digital. I have taken more photos with this camera in the last 4 months than I have for years with my old conventional camera. Wonderful. Draw backs: Even though the camera will stay charged all weekend and you can take about 60 photos and a couple of 10 second videos all on one 64 card, by the end of the battery charge the camera takes a while to respond, especially if you are using the flash.

The main thing I would say is that even though the pictures from this camera are wonderful, a quick comparison with a 3 mega pixel and upwards will make you want to upgrade immediately. Spend that extra cash and get a 3 mega pixel and above. Its only about 40/50 pounds difference and is worth it. This is a good starter digital camera, it takes much better photos than my 350 quid SLR and is great for snaps.

Canon Powershot S100 aka IXUS
I purchased this whilst on hols in the USA in 2002. I have used it continuosly since. The only problem I have found is the rechargable battery doesnt last long especially when using the flash. However, the standard of pictures make up for that in one way. I would recommend that anyone who purchases it buys a back up battery. I cannot fault the quality of photo that you get in both Colour & Black & White modes. The quality is so good that our design & print dept have used the photos in many a poster without much loss in quality.
You dont have to have much experience with digital cameras its fairly easy to use.

Quality
I have owned this camera for over 1.5 years. The picture quality is excellent if you have it in "super fine" resolution (about 0.5 to 1.5Mb per photo 1600x1200). The lower quality settings are great for general holiday snaps but the colour depth isnt as good as "super fine".

This camera is a quality piece of kit. It looks, feels, and in fact is, very very solid. It is nice and small, maybe a bit heavy for its tiny size due to the metal case. Also it can take a while for it to take the shot, you just have to be prepared and frame the shot by pressing the button half way first - then wait for the moment, which unfortunately isnt always possible.

Some newer cameras have a higher pixel rating, but you have to consider the size of the images. I find that 1600x1200 is more than adequate for me, and my photo albums dont take up much room on my PC too.

This used to be the smallest full featured digital camera money could buy, and I think it is also the best quality.

Fuji Spare Li-Ion Battery for FinePix 4900 (NP-80)

This battery is also good for the 4800.

I used my camera a lot when sight-seeing in London and didnt need a spare battery, but it was a sunny day and therefore i didnt use the flash and couldnt use the LCD. However, taking video clips of a firework display on the south coast and using the flash f..

Canon Travel Case for Digital Ixus / Ixus V

Like the previous reviewer, I bought this "sight unseen" as there was no photograph. Its a lovely case, very well made and thought out - but its got room for about 4 Ixi (plural of Ixus?) - and the camera just rattles around inside it.
To me, the point of the Ixus is its compactness. I assumed t..

Canon Powershot G1

The Powershot G1 aims at offering professional camera features in a compact body. Its only slightly heavier and larger than a typical point-and-shoot compact camera but manages to pack a lot into the space. The 3.3 Megapixel CCD gives a commendable maximum image size of 2,048 by 1,536. Theres a 3x optical zoom and a 4x digital zoom on top. The lens retracts into the body when its switched off. The 1.8-inch LCD panel tilts and swivels which proves a boon when you get more adventurous positioning ..

Using Digital Cameras: A Comprehensive Guide to Digital Image Capture

There are essentially two parts to this book--one in which the author explains how a digital camera works (the information can be found just as clearly on the Web), and one where various photographers demonstrated how they took pictures that they felt were good examples of digital camera work. I can..
