JVC GR-DVP9 Digital Camcorder [Mini-DV 10xOptical DV-in/out]

£ 649.99
Very compact and well built camcorder.
This is my first camcorder and the learning curve has been very straight forward. I was able to hook the JVC up to iMovie and my iMac really easily and the results I have been getting are really exciting.

I recently went on a Caterham 7 car rally and captured some nice in-car footage and have subsequently burned a DVD of the edited footage. All very easy.

The cam itself feels nice and chunky and you get the impression that the thing is built to be used and not kept hidden in a protective camera bag. The viewfinder and screen are both bright. I tend to use the mini screen as it makes framing shots easier. The built-in mic does the sound work adequately. While we are on the subject, here lies the reason I knocked off a mark and rated this cam four stars out of five; you cannot rig up an external mic. Slightly annoying for what I need to do.

Battery longevity is OK but I have bought a spare.

To sum up, this a great very compact digital camcorder and would have no doubts about recommending this over and above its rival. Buy.

DVP9
I have one of these. Agree with above (or below) reviewer. Excellent camcorder for convenience and portability and unobtrusive filming.

However I am dissapointed with colour reproduction. I had a JVC-DVP3 model before this one. Despite being an older model, the colour reproduction was much better on my old camera.

The dvp9 is a lot sharper than previous models, but still suffers from poor performance in low light. This is inevitable with the small lens. Nightscope is rubbish, basically. Too blurry.

On the whole though, a bargin. But I did get mine in Singapore for five hundred quid, so cant complain really. Probably wouldnt buy one for more than six hundred, cos you can get a canon one with better optics for that price, with only slightly bigger size.

JVC GRDVP9 - The mini marvel
If youre reading this review, then you must at least be thinking about buying this camcorder. Further more, there is a strong possibility that its the tiny size which youre drawn to. Well if its a compact-throw-in-your-pocket-with-minimum-fuss camcorder that youre after, then this is definitely for you. Its not going to break any records for colour reproduction or image stability, but then what do you expect for a camcorder which is barely bigger than a packet of cigarettes. But then, its the size which youre buying it for. Pound for pound, you will get better quality for the money. You will also get a bigger camcorder.
I have this camcorder, and its perfect for me. It is packed with features, and does everything I expected it to. I can flash it around with the minimum of fuss, allowing for some unintrusive footage. Still picture quality is excellent, and every imaginable cable (bar firewire) is included in the box.

So to sum up:

Pros
Tiny (You really will be amazed)
Feature packed
Great quality (Bar colour reproduction)

Cons
Can be jittery (Even with stabliser on)
Colour reproduction not perfect (But very acceptable)

JVC GR-DX25EK Digital Camcorder [Mini-DV 16xOptical DV-out]

I wanted a basic digital camcorder at an affordable cost and reasonably good features. I like to record anything and everything around me so that I can show it to my parents and family who live far away in India to show them how it is like in UK. I always wanted to show them how does everything look..

JVC GR-DV700 Digital Camcorder [Mini-DV 10xOptical DV-in/out]

I bought this camcorder to replace a fairly basic analogue model. I wanted to be able to edit digitally but also to convert my old analogue content to digital and put it on DVD, so I needed DV in/out as well as analogue in.
This camera meets all these needs and as an overall package I cant find i..

JVC GR-DV4000 Digital Camcorder [Mini-DV 10xOptical DV-in/out]

Only two real complaints - the software, and the manual, which is pretty important for using this for the first few months, is very flimsy, just thin paper and easily damaged. Weve been quite careful!

Now, forget about using this with the analogue video right away. The image quality does not benef..

JVC GR-DX95EK Digital Camcorder [Mini-DV 16xOptical DV-in/out]

Id have to agree with "yevsy" in the sense that the quality of the stillimages is VERY poor. As this is the only camcorder Ive owned this may bea usual criticism with all of them! My four year old Kodak DC280 gives aright kicking in terms of still imaging!
However in terms what mostpeople will by..

JVC GR-D70 Digital Camcorder [Mini-DV 16xOptical DV-in/out]

Having a bunch of old 8mm video tapes and an analogue Canon video camera, I was unsure whether to go the digital 8 route or DV. I saw the review of the GRD70 and saw it had an anologue input so I bought it. I thought that transferring my old tapes would mean recording them onto the DV tape and then ..
