Another classic
Toca Race driver is a glorified carerer sim with a lot to offer over basically every racer on the planet. Starting out as Ryan McKane you must work your way up on 3 levels. The ToCA Tour, German DTM, Australian V8 Supercars are all represented along with a few none real championships.Toca Race Driver has a massive lifespan which will make you come back for more. The huge selection of tracks will allow a range of options, even the die hard touring car fans will be more than happy. The graphics are superb. The Handeling of the cars are realistic and offer a unique challenge between the cars. Trying to power a V8 Super car is tough because its RWD you seem to lsoe the back end and have to learn how to control, the 4WDs are easier and are used in the first stages. This is what makes the game different, the handeling of the cars differs on every car and is not uniform (like most racing games). There are a few minor niggles though I dislike the ability to keep trying at stage one in the career so i can win every championship, once you meet the criteria you automatically move up. The PS2 version has the old Hockenheim, the power beast where you need a fast car to succeed, where as the XBox version offers the new Hockenheim which is a different experience and personally i dislike the new track. I also dislike the fact that there are only 4-5 real competitions (DTM, V8 supercars, ToCA Tour) i reckon with a few more official championships (FIA GT, Le Mans series, IRL single seater etc) the game could be that extra bit spectacular. The niggles are minor and the game is fantastic in every way. Without a doubt the best racer on the PS2 or the XBox and an amazing real racer. Lets hope F1 Career Challenge is as good

Great graphics, great AI
Beautiful and involving graphics with fantastic crash damage.Smart AI means that other drivers make mistakes and hit each other without your intervention. They also seem to remember when you have played dirty and seek their revenge. Race series from around the world bring an interesting variety of tracks and cars. A great game which is a pleasure to dip into for the odd 15 minutes or to play into the night.

great racing
The racing in this game is as great, as we have come to expect from Codemasters. The excitement of battling for position in the middle of 19 other competitors makes this game thouroughly enjoyable. The damage system is very good, with your car getting dents, and even pieces falling off. If you crash into the walls and other cars too otfen you may find yourself unable to finish the race. This makes for some great racing as you try to overtake without making contact with the other cars. The storyline is the new feature, and to be honest I dont like it. It seems tacked onto the game, and pretty poor. In fact I find the central character quite unlikable. Fortunately this part of the game isnt too intrusive, and the actual racing makes up for this deficiency.
