Totally Amazing!
I am soooo glad I got one of these! Definitely the coolest piece of kit Ive bought for a long time.

The Jukebox looks great and feels lighter than Id expected after reading other peoples reviews. It was dead easy to set up with my PC... I was all connected up and ripping in around 5 minutes. This was my first experience at converting CD tracks to MP3 files, but the included PlayCenter 2 software seemed very intuitive and simple to use. The menu system on the Jukebox itself is pretty straightforward as well.

So far Ive transferred over 300 albums onto the Jukebox with no problems at all, taking up an average of 51MB per CD when encoding at the recommended 128kbps. This means I expect to be able to store about 373 CDs altogether. My clunky old Pentium II 300MHz PC with a 32x CD-ROM takes 10-15 mins to rip a whole CD, depending on how long it is. Im not an expert, but the sound quality seems very impressive to me, and I havent had any trouble with the MP3 encoding.

If youre connected to the internet when you insert a CD the software automatically searches a massive online database and retrieves all the track listings, artist names and genre details for you. This is really cool! So far Ive only had 2 CDs which it hasnt recognised, although occasionally the details it retrieves are a little inaccurate or incomplete (especially for compilation albums) and need a bit of editing.

Although the rechargeable batteries only last about 4 hours this hasnt bothered me because I mostly use the included mains adapter, or a 12v car adapter which I bought separately. I ended up getting an adapter made by Creative because a couple of generic adapters I tried didnt seem to quite fit.

If I was being really picky, then Id have to say the time it takes to Boot-up and "prepare the library" can be a bit of a drag... with over 240 CDs stored it now takes over 2 minutes from pressing the "on" button to being able to do anything.

All in all I think this is an amazing piece of technology which integrates seamlessly with your computer and the internet to make life as easy as possible. Looks good, easy to use, very reliable, loads of features for proper audiophiles, and sounds great. Buy one now!

A must have for music-loving commuters and travellers
When I wanted to retire my battered discman and upgrade to an MP3 player, I was put off by the fact that most could only hold 1 album at a time. This was all solved when I discovered the Creative Labs DAP jukebox, and I now have my entire CD collection in one, highly portable piece of kit.

Right, the plus sides. As mentioned, it means you can carry a vast quantity of music around in a gadget slightly larger and heavier than a discman. The Playcenter 2 software is easy to use for ripping your CDs to MP3 and the USB connection makes for rapid transfer of MP3 to the player itself. The audio quality is excellent.

On the down side, it is slightly larger and heavier than a discman and this may put off some people. It is also more expensive than many other MP3 players, but few can boast the capacity that this can.

Overall, an excellent product that means you will never have to worry about leaving one of your favourite CDs in the car. If going for this, definately worth paying the extra for the 20Gb version - for 50% more cost you get over 3 times the capacity; roughly 300 albums instead of 100!

Awesome
I bought one from Amazon at the end of the year after extensively researching the prices in the UK. This is an incredible piece of kit. I encode my MP3s at 196Kbps and it handles those fine. Even with those file sizes I have 100 albums on it so far and less then half full. This thing got Toms harware gadget of the year for good reason. Still no sign of serious competitor model either so stop waiting and get one. I have seen the Archos player and this is much better
Criticisms -
It takes a long time to get all your CDs put onto it but doesnt require much intervention - just switch CDs on your PC, let CDDB get the track info and then click transfer. Wait 3 mins and do the next one.
The user interface is a little slow at times but sound playback always seems spot on - no skips etc.
My power supply broke but I went on the creative website, got online chat with support staff and a new one is being sent to me. Excellent service
The batteries are Ni-Cd, not lithium so suffer from all the usul problems of having to perform full charge/discharge cycles to keep them happy - top up charging isnt too reliable.
Headphones not great.

Sony D-CJ01 Silver MP3 CD Walkman

P>This Sony is really great... I got it earlier today and its played all the MP3s Ive thrown at it perfectly. The size, sound and build quality are great, and it does NOT skip! It lacks some features which were cool on the Rio - m3u/winamp playlist support, memories for the last 10 discs used, upgra..

Rio Volt SP250 MP3 CD Player

The Rio Volt SP250 is a neat, portable digital-audio CD player which handles MP3 and WMA tracks as well as standard audio CDs. It includes an FM tuner, too. Portable MP3 players have been around for a while and CD-based Walkman-style devices much longer than that, but a player which combines the two is more of a novelty. Rio Volts SP250 is the top model in a range of digital audio players which aims to play just about anything you drop into it.

This is a versatile device. For a start, it can ..
