The Bat! Flies!!!
The Bat! is the most powerful & versatile e-mail client I have ever used. I was saddened to read the other review as it contained incorrect info which obviously was a result of null feedback from the suppliers (WSKA). I had a similar problem but found from TB!s developers that the supplied serial no. could be converted easily on their website to the format needed by the upgrade versions.

TB! is now in version 2 which offers full IMAP4 support, plain or html mail options, antispam and antivirus plugin support, a scheduler, pop mail scanner and downloader, and the unique mail ticker.

TB! wont let you open an attachment if it has a double extension so protects you from viruses which use that means to spread, and can be set to prevent opening of or issue a warning about any other attachment.

It uses its own address book format (rather than Windows address book) which is not vulnerable to being exploited by viruses.

As it does not display linked html objects it does not report back to a website or anywhere else that a mail has been received and read, e.g. by opening images linked to websites or downloading scripts or cookies.

TB! has powerful filtering and macro actions which can be used to sort mail very easily.

It includes Quick Templates to be able to add pre-written text or the contents of a file with a few simple keystrokes.

The scheduler allows reminders to be linked to mails - to trigger an alarm, start a program, send/check mail, create a mail or send a mail written earlier at a given time, or open an external document.

TB! also supports multiple mail accounts with different providers and mail servers, it can be used by more than one user so that each user has their own login and settings, and can even be used on multiple machines in client/server mode to provide network mail services.

All in all this program offers amazing value for money, and more features than you can imagine. Its easy to use whilst you learn all about its more advanced options. Only two words... Buy it! ;-)

No update path with this version.
I purchased this item and the version contains minimal (browse only), IMAP support. I tried to update to the latest version, which contains full IMAP support but the download update would only support license numbers purchased online from the company. Contacted both the distributor and the producer. Never received a reply to solve my problem. A shame really, because this program deserves to be rated higher. Great multilingual spellcheck, filtering, etc.

Learning GNU Emacs (A Nutshell Handbook)

This is a fine and informative book, well structured and easy to read. However, the version of Emacs under consideration, 19.29, is some way behind the current release. Id like any update to cover NT Emacs as well...

Works 7

Microsoft Works 7 is essentially a cut-down version of Microsoft Office but manages to pack a lot of functionality in while still offering superb ease of use.

Works 7 combines a word processor, spreadsheet, database, calendar and more in to an easy-to-use, project-driven package. You start by choosing a project such as "Do Well in School" then select one of a series of tasks for instance "Track Homework Assignments". Works 7 uses a series of pre-written templates ..

Using Csh & Tcsh: Work Faster, Type Less (A Nutshell Handbook)

If you use Unix and have never tried the tcsh shell, I highly recommend that you check it out. This book is one of the few sources of information on this shell besides the man page. While the man page makes a great, if terse, reference, this book explains the most useful features in plain English. H..

The Official Stronghold Guide: The Server Solution

This is one hell of a compendium ... not only is the full breadth of Stronghold (and Apache generally) illuminated with unparalleled clarity, but the true essence - nay *soul* - of web-serving is delivered with an impact that could drop a rhino. Whilst TOSG is a touch melancholic early on, and a rat..

ACDSee V4

I first obtained a demo version of ACDsee v2.4ish almost 4 years ago on the cover of a magazine. It was relatively advanced and specialised for the time, allowing files to be viewed as thumbnails on a win 98 OS, one click viewing of the files, folder navigation integral to the interface; windows exp..
