drew barrymore was outstanding in this movie she portrays a single mother with dreams for herself which is just shattered by the a unwanted baby but i was pleased to see half way through the the film she learned from her mistakes and started to take care of her baby and love him for what he was and not what she want him to do.and still get her dreams to write. drew played the part very well and her performs always seem to a maze me i am a new fan of drews and i have watched several of her movies since i watched charlie angels full throttle and i like her performs.drew just slips in too charaters like a glove she was great in this movie she needs too do more for these sort of movies.

totally under rated movie - a must watch!
i really liked this movie - cmon whats there NOT to like? after having a marathon of about 16 movies, this is the movie ive enjoyed -the- most. drew barrymore stars as a very, very bright young girl (beverly) whose life gets thrown off track by getting pregnant at 15. its told in retrospect but without the typical "this is the story of my life..." kind of take. beverly takes on marriage and having a child whilst trying to fulfill her dream of going to college. but the movie not only shows her wants, needs, dreams, frustration, it also shows how all this moulds her sons life. i would say what makes this an excellent film is the plot. of course top notch acting by barrymore and co-stars help tons! based on a true story, the plot is flawless. what makes the story so riveting is that she was such an intelligent and ambitious woman. she knew what she wanted and how to get it but circumstance and emotional imaturity foiled her plans. a completely and totally excellent film!!
