Excellent media for DVD recording
I bought my first DVD recorder (the renowned Philips DVDR880) from Amazon and 5 Imation DVD+RW disks. Although the recorder came with a free Philips re-writable DVD, I decided to test record the Imation media first. The results were superb - playback of recorded programmes via Sky are first rate in terms of clarity and colour definition; no artefacts at all. Feel safe in buying Imation DVD+RW disks. They are cheaper than Philips own brand and you wont go back to old-style video tapes again. Guaranteed.
Philips DVDR890 DVD Recorder
The DVDR890 represents the mid-range recorder from Philips. It is one up from the DVDR880 but only seems to have the addition of the EP+ recording mode which will allow 6 hours from a standard 4.7Gb DVD disk, instead of the maximum of 4.

Thankfully I only bought a pack of 6 of these disks, and 4 are now in the bin after burn failures. The other 2 were sucessful, but dont operate as they should. Do yourself a huge favour and leave TDK disks well alone. It makes me mad that I am forced to give this product even 1 star !! I should h..
I have had this player for only 24 hours and am very pleased. Picture quality is no problem, even at M6 for home recording/watching purposes. Very extensive instruction manual and, yes it is needed!
