a unique work
1000 Dessous by Gilles Neret is a fascinating ......, what exactly? Not read. Words are not the medium of the book but the story and history of underwear are told mainly by the use of drawings and photographs dating back to Ancient Greek and Egyptian times. Perhaps the most interesting part of the book concentrates on the Victorian and Edwardian eras but there is a significant section on cinema with stills from many well known films. I would suggest it is a book, not to digest in one sitting, but to return to, to have on your book shelf, to enjoy. Make up your own mind as to whether it is titillating or educational but I can guarantee you wont have seen a book like it before.
