Best of the PC bike racing sims crop
Having played various PC bike racing games, I have to recommend this as the definitive bike racer. Compared to the most recent offering, MotoGP - this game, as a genuine simulation, walks all over it...Far superior rider viewing angles, a MUCH more developed (accurate) handling style with greater control means and a highly fluid, graphically realistic experience. Microprose GP500 is usually recommended as THE simulation to buy, but Id say definately not having experienced both games - GP500 is hugely basic in comparison - despite a reasonable graphical appearance, lacking the same number of viewing angles and having far more basic controls plus bike handling models. Superbike 2000 takes a while to get used to, but is very rewarding and develops and tests your skils over a longer period - its a really intense challenge to win a 5 lap race on the most realistic settings. Superbike 2000 is a very professional bike racing simulator which Id recommend to anyone who wants a game that feels accurate to anyone who knows what its like to ride a bike quickly. The bikes and sounds are all very well recreated, although Id say the Ducati and Aprilia engine noise is a bit lacking compared to the Honda V-four and Suzuki GSX-R engine sounds (both great.)One thing - if youre intending to run this game on Windows XP youll probably need to play around with running properties (resolution,OS compatibility modes etc) to get it running properly as its very particular about this, while its best run with antivirus facilities turned off for smooth gameplay. Buy Superbike 2000 if youre running XP as 2001 (very similar) hates XP, although if youre running an earlier OS probably no problems at all.

Superbike 2000 - sound cards
Great game, pity it took me so long to get it working though ! A word of advice for potential buyers. If you have problems with this game crashing frequently (the game crashing, not you crashing the bikes!), try disabling hardware acceleration on your soundcard. It worked for me. This is one great game. Bike racing fans have been crying out for a good bike sim for years. Superbike 99 was good but this is such an improvement. I would reccomend this to any bike racing fans out there. Its worth persevering with the tricky controls (you will crash a lot at first). When you have mastered it, its a wonderful feeling to beat Aaron Slight on the final corner of the final lap after 25 laps of scrapping around Donington. Wonderful stuff.

Hard, but extremely addictive
This is a lot harder than I expected it to be, yet when you get to grips with the controls it becomes an extremely addictive game. As a fanatical superbike watcher i can assure you the courses are as close to realistic as you could get. There is a distinct lack of commentary from Keith Huewen but these games tend to get a little repetetive when it comes to the commentary side. This is a must for all you superbike fans out there.
