The lovely smiley face on this toy makes him seem the friendliest snake around. This cuddly snake can be wrapped around your baby or used as an entertaining toy. The Activity Snake is from BRIOs soft toy range which are all designed to stimulate a childs development through play. The toy is specifically aimed at babies who are six months and over as they explore cause and effect. The tail has a bell in it and within the body there are two squeakers. The bell is easy to discover and play with, although an 11-month-old child struggled with the squeakers. The snake is made of different, strongly coloured fabrics. Cotton checks or stripes and shiny nylon intersperse the velveteen. These different textures are good for stimulating touch. The black and white colours are particularly good for stimulating eyesight. It would make an appealing toy for babies under six months but its worth bearing in mind that the snake is rather large, being 150 cm from nose to tail. There is just about enough space to get a hand into the head of the snake so he can be played with as a puppet. This would enchant a slightly older child. A well designed toy that most children will enjoying playing with. At the very least he is good for a cuddle and a bit of a chew! With all that chewing it is a good thing that the snake can be washed on a cold cycle (30 degrees), but should not be tumble dried or bleached. --Emma Barrett |
