The Memorex Metalbox CD-R 50 pack offers a cost-effective way of purchasing blank CD-R discs, while getting a sturdy container and a music CD into the bargain. The CD-R discs are wrapped in cellophane in a single block. There is no spindle and they do not come with jewel cases. The tower of discs is stored within a cardboard housing that sits within the metal box. There is a protective blank perspex disc on top. The discs themselves are certified at up to 16-speed recording and testing of direct CD to CD-R copying worked flawlessly at this speed for both data and audio discs. The tests were conducted using Nero Burning ROM software and a Memorex IDE CD-RW drive. These silver CD-Rs are good for 80 minutes of audio, or 700MB of data, plus universally compatible, for those used to working with 650MB discs. The metal box itself is sturdy, with a fully detachable lid. The artwork on the outside is printed on a detachable piece of paper around the tin, so you can remove this and have a nondescript silver tin if desired. This MTV sponsored pack means that you get the MTV logo on each of the discs, but more interestingly, it also comes with a pre-recorded CD in jewel case of 10 MTV hits from the European MTV Top 20, including artists such as Britney Spears.--Jason Weston |

The black writing surface arrests the laser light doing the burning instantly and exactly. As the master is transferred to the receiving disc the chrome surface as opposed to the black surface allows the light (laser) to splash just a bit as it rewrites the disc. This results in the possible errors ..

Dont get me wrong, this is great value for money. I mean, where else can you get 25 CD-Rs for this amount of money? The only problem I get is the fact that these discs cant seem to be read by any of my normal CD-ROM drives -- except for my CDRW/DVD drive. Whilst it may not be a problem for some peop..
