| Rio Volt SP250 MP3 CD Player |
| Description |
The Rio Volt SP250 is a neat, portable digital-audio CD player which handles MP3 and WMA tracks as well as standard audio CDs. It includes an FM tuner, too. Portable MP3 players have been around for a while and CD-based Walkman-style devices much longer than that, but a player which combines the two is more of a novelty. Rio Volts SP250 is the top model in a range of digital audio players which aims to play just about anything you drop into it. This is a versatile device. For a start, it can play standard audio CDs--the nearly circular top hinges up and you click the disc over the central spindle and close the clam-shell. It will also play MP3 or WMA-format digital tracks, once their recorded onto a CD-R or CD-RW disc. To prepare this type of CD, you do need a PC or Mac, but recording ("ripping") software for both is included with the Rio Volt. Not much bigger than the CD discs it plays and under 30 mm thick, the Rio Volt SP250 runs on a pair of AA cells, either alkaline or the NiMH rechargeables provided. These give up to 15 hours playback on a single charge. Playback is controlled either from buttons on the surface of the player or from a handy remote, which you can clip to your belt, so the player can sit in a bag or a (big) pocket. A back-lit LCD panel set in the lid shows all necessary information, including a play-list, volume and battery levels and sampling and compression rates. Just to top it off, this model includes an FM tuner, so you can catch up with news or off-air sounds. Sound quality through the supplied earphones is more than acceptable. All in all, this is a very convenient way of carrying a lot of music with you. --Simon Williams |

Logix EVzone Clik Mp3 Player
The Logix Clik certainly isnt the smallest or lightest MP3 player you can find, but then it does much more than most digital music players. As well as playing MP3 and Windows Media files (WMA), this chunky silver player lets you record on the move, carry an address book (download it as CSV), check the date and time and copy files to and from the 40 MB of storage you get. And when thats full, you can either delete files using the eVzone Manager software, or pop in another Iomega Clik! disk and us..

There are more controls on the side for using the radio, the voice recorder and the memo tools and a helpful reminder of what you can do o..

Im a mac user who has owned an iPod for six months now and Ive had no problems with it. Theres a couple of specific points Id like to state for the record:(1) The software now on iPods has ironed out the bugs mentioned elsewhere in these reviews and now includes an equaliser. (2) The fact that ..
