| Olympus C1 Digital Camera [1.3MP] |

| Description |
|
The Olympus C-1 has all the key functions of a brand-name digital camera, but at a price previously reserved for imitations. Olympus was one of the first companies to see the potential of digital photography and now has a wide range of cameras from fully-professional SLRs down to happy-snappy cameras like the C-1. You can liken the C-1 to a typical compact 35 mm film camera, the type you might take on holiday with you to capture the best moments with the minimum of setting up. The C-1 follows the design of other cameras in the Camedia range, with a sliding lens cover which also acts as the power switch. Power comes from the supplied Lithium ion battery pack, but in an emergency you can run from a pair of AA cells, too. The battery drives the camera electronics and also a 39 mm diagonal LCD screen. The control panel looks a little sparse, but is easy to use because of this; there are four navigation buttons, set in a circle, which work with the on-screen menu to set up the camera, and two others--one for OK and the other to turn the screen on and off. The F2.8 lens uses an auto-focus system and although there are macro and 2x digital zoom modes on the camera, thats about it. The 1.3-megapixel CCD array is capable of taking images at resolutions up to 1,280 x 960 and the 8 MB SmartMedia memory card provided can hold between eight and 24 of these, or 82 at the lower resolution of 640x480. Connection to a PC is via the supplied USB cable, and Olympuss Camedia Suite software provides good, if basic, manipulation of images. At its competitive price, this is a very good first digital camera. --Simon Williams |

Olympus C-1Z Digital Camera [1.3MP 3xOptical]
|
The snappy looking Olympus C1-Z is aimed at those looking for a compact and affordable entry into the wonders of digital cameras without getting bogged down in technicalities. The sleek silver body has a neat retracting lens with a sliding cover and pop-up flash unit, so you can slip it unobtrusively into a pocket and take it wherever you go. The 1.3megapixel CCD equates to images of up to 1280 by 960 in size with two compression levels, which is no use if you are looking to produce high-quality..

Id been considering a digital camera for a while, to replace my (still fine) Olympus Mu, and finally I decided Id plump for Olympus again. Moving from a standard camera to a digital camera, the first difference I noticed was the weight - a little heavier, due to the 4AA batteries it needs. When it c..

Olympus E-100RS Digital Camera
|
The Olympus E-100RS is a quality, innovative digital camera without a high-resolution CCD, designed specifically for high-speed action photography. At a time when most manufacturers are producing 3-megapixel cameras, theres nothing particularly impressive about the 1.5 megapixel resolution of this Olympus--its the lens and processor that make the camera special. The E-100RS ("RS" stands for "Rapid Shot") comes with a 10x optically stabilised lens, and is capable of taking up to 15 shots per seco..
