Add three digital FireWire ports to your PC with the Pyro Digital Video 1394DV interface card and take advantage of the latest in DV cameras and high-speed peripherals. As with many technologies digital video and Firewire has had a slow introduction, but with digital video (called DV) now cheap enough for home users to start using, many people will be looking to add FireWire to their systems. FireWire (also called IEEE1394) is the interface used by DV cameras to transfer recorded video to a PC or Macintosh computer. While most Macs have had these ports for a long time most PCs dont. So for those people wanting to use DV an expansion card such as the Pyro Digital Video is needed to add FireWire to a PC. Installation, as with almost all FireWire cards, was trouble free with the card being supported directly by Windows 98, Me and 2000. Its detected automatically without the need to supply extra driver discs. The card itself provides three FireWire ports, two external and one internal, which is more than enough as FireWire devices can be daisy-chained. Software-wise, copies of Uleads VideoStudio 4 SE and MediaStudio Pro 6 VE are bundled along with FireNet networking software, various sample videos and a standard FireWire DV cable is thrown in. The Pyro Digital Video FireWire card manages to offer a little more than most other cards on the market. The two external ports is a basic requirement but the extra internal one is a boon, with a software pack that is more than good enough this is a very competitive bundle.--Nick Baxter |
