Any flight enthusiast has a good joystick, but you need a third hand or good memory for all the key controls as well. Once youre au fait with the controls, F22L3 is highly enjoyable. The voxel engine has been ditched, going to 3D acceleration all the way. The command interface has been commonplace in Novalogic games for a number of years--a few set quick missions for instant action, or ongoing campaigns. Theres a loading screen where you configure your jet to the demands of the mission before taking off to do battle. Frankly jumping into instant action missions is one of the ways to learn the game but have fun at the same time--it gets frustrating but addictive as you learn the F22s flight characteristics and weapons handling. It might add to the sense of realism but (unlike space combat games) once youve locked on with a missile and fired, the explosion can be so far away that you dont feel involved in the combat, and the cannons seem decorative at times. Its also a pain when youre down to the very last mission objective, youre in a tense dogfight without any rockets left and one of the enemy jets manages to acquire a killer missile when everybodys using cannons. The only exception to the danger of detachment is when deploying a nuclear bomb, and you have to afterburn your way out of the detonation area or die along with the target. With the radio chatter and red lock-on bleeps this has a more cinematic than totally simulation bias. Its a good game but some diehard jet fans may prefer Digital Integrations Air Dominance Fighter or the later F22: Total Air War for a fully hardcore simulation of this plane.--Kenneth Henry |

F/A - 18e Super Hornet

In terms of reality, I would have to say that this is probably the most realistic flight simulator I have taken to the skies with since Falcon 4.0. If reality is what you are looking for, this will not let you down. However, a word of "caution"... It is not until page 59 that you finally find the in..

Combat Flight Simulator World War 2 Europe Series
|
Microsofts Combat Flight Simulator: WWII Europe Series does exactly what is says on the box--it lets you fly Second World War aircraft in combat missions. You can elect to fly "quick combat" missions or take part in a variety of campaigns flying for the British, Germans and Americans. You can choose how realistic you want the flight characteristics of the aircraft to be. Crank it up full and too tight a turn will see you spinning to destruction... unless your spin recovery technique is po..

Special Air Mission

Very nice software for FS98. It has the present Air Force One VC-25A(B747) and the Air Force One used during the JFK era VC-137B (B707). Another 3 US Navy aircraft come with this package VC-137A-MATS/VC 135A STRATOTANKER and the E-3A SENTRY/AWACS(B707 type). The panels are excellent and the airport ..

Jet Fighter Full Burn - Jewel
|
Is this another F-22 or F-18 game? Well, yes and no. These 2 types are your options and they do the job pretty well, though the cockpits and graphic details are spare (the external views are in low visibility grey colourings anyway), so it has more of a gamey feel. The landscape (Arctic) looks cold ..

Air Warrior 3 / Carrier Strike Fighter
|
I guess tat this is a case of Buy One, Get One For Free(BOGOFF)! Air Warrier 3 is a very slight improvement on Air Warrier 2, though it all seems to be more of the same. The only difference is that the ground has some textures, which are okay, and match the grainy look of the cockpit interiors and w..
